Cloud Engineer

Convoke, a leading SAAS technology provider in the Financial Oversight and Compliance market, is looking for a Cloud Engineer to join its growing Infrastructure Team. Convoke secures business-to-business data and document exchange through a multi-tenant, SaaS application that provides durable storage, secure delivery, workflow management, and a comprehensive auditing platform. As part of the company’s Engineering team, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for curating the code, systems, tools, and servers that are the backbone of the organization’s private cloud.

Responsibilities

This position is focused on the development of systems and processes for operating and maintaining Convoke’s private cloud and physical datacenter systems. You’ll deploy and manage bare-metal provisioning services for KVM compute nodes and Ceph storage systems. You’ll deploy and manage cloud stacks using virtual machine provisioning tools and container cluster management tools. You’ll also collaborate with storage and network engineers to build provisioning tools achieve Software Defined Storage and Software Defined Networking goals. You’ll help develop organization-wide methodologies for using telemetry and analytics to influence component development for Convoke’s SAAS platform.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V, vmWare, or Openstack/KVM

  • 5+ years of experience building tools using Python, Ruby, BASH, JSON, YAML, XML, and relational databases

  • Expert knowledge of physical systems architecture, including topics such as NUMA, PMEM, PCIe, and M.2

  • Expert knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, PxE, and the OSI Model

  • Experience with storage platforms, tools, and protocols such as NetApp, nfs, rsync, RAID, mirroring, and clustering

  • You have a 4-year technical degree from an accredited university. (waived with sufficient work experience)

Pluses

  • Experience in a similar role in Financial Services, FinTech, or working with financial or account applications and data

  • Experience working at a SAAS product-centric company delivering new product releases in an agile environment

  • Experience with related technologies such as: Ceph, Kubernetes, Kafka, Openstack, and DevOps tools

  • Experience working in audited environments with encrypted data and strong security controls and governance

  • Experience with products, applications, and tools that handle large volumes of transactional data
